KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police are asking the public for help in identifying the person whose image was captured on surveillance cameras during a theft earlier this year from a Hilo store.

On March 17, a man removed a cellular phone from a Hilo store display rack and left the store without paying, according to the Hawaii Police Department.

The suspect is described as having a medium complexion, mustache, and a light beard. Police say he was wearing a hat with the words “aloha” on it, a black Volcom T-shirt with a black jacket, and denim jeans.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity is asked to contact the department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311 or Officer Alric Dalere at 961-2213.
